more bombs in austin as sxsw winds up man arrested over cancelled hip hop concert

Two more bombs went off in Austin as South by Southwest wound up for another year injuring two.

In the meantime, a man has been arrested for emailing a bomb threat to the Fair Market concert venue which, as reported in TMN, shut down a hip-hop concert by The Roots, Ludacris and Rapsody.

Three package bombs detonated earlier in the month as thousands of delegates and showcase artists gathered in Austin.

As reported in TMN, 39-year-old Anthony Stephan House died when a bomb went off on March 2 at his house.

Two detonated on March 12, killing 17-year-old Draylen Mason, wounding his mother and injuring a 75-year-old woman.

A reward of $115,000 is being offered for any information.

The latest, on Sunday night Texas time, apparently set off by tripwire, injured two men in their 20s. They are in hospital and their injuries are “significant”, according to the local police chief, but not life threatening.

Police are still not sure if the bombings are linked, and if they are racially motivated as none of the earlier victims were white.

More than 500 officers have conducted 236 interviews in following up on 435 leads.

26-year-old Trevor Weldon Ingram has been charged with making a terrorist threat on the afternoon (4:23 pm)  of March 17 before the ‘Bud Light x The Roots & Friends Jam’ show.

Police attended the venue at about 8:30 pm after being called by the show’s promoter Live Nation but did not find anything suspicious.

Ingram was arrested at 11:15 pm that night.

Making a terrorist threat is a third degree felony which comes with a jail sentence of up to ten years.

SXSW organisers tweeted apologies for inconveniencing the audience but "Your safety and the safety of all fans at SXSW is our most important priority."

Roots drummer Questlove tweeted, “No one is Mr ‘show must go on’ than me.

“But we can’t risk our lives if we are told there was a bomb threat.”
