Support Act Ltd’s ambitious Bandwagon funding campaign has reached almost 60% of its target. This morning the figure stood at $57,919.

The Pozible campaign was launched last week to raise $100,000 by end of September to continue its work with musicians and music industry practioners who’ve fallen to financial and health problems.

With so few safety nets available to people working in the music industry, demand for Support Act’s services increased by 500% in the last year alone. It gets no Government funding, and has to raise money by itself.

In the last week, eleven fans received birthday messages from Guy Sebastian, Ian Moss, John Butler, John Williamson, Josh Pyke, Paul Dempsey, Seth Sentry, The Potbelleez and Tina Arena.

An Eskimo Joe fan paid $10,000 for eleven of his friends to dine at Friends restaurant in Perth, at which the band will play a private acoustic set.

It was part of the Feast With Friends reward, for which Megan Washington and Tim Finn joined this week. They will play at Sydney’s Rockpool and Longrain respectively. Similar sets will be played by Kasey Chambers, Marcia Hines, The Church and The Preatures at Rockpool, with the Hoodoo Gurus at Longrain, and Sheppard at Urbane Brisbane.

Other fans picked up tickets for concerts courtesy of The Dainty Group, A Day On The Green, Frontier Touring and Oztix. Six got mentoring sessions from Hilltop Hoods, Kirk Pengilly of INXS, promoter Michael Chugg and Something for Kate’s Paul Dempsey.

Bandwagon kicked off strongly when the major Golden Nugget reward – consisting of a new Hyundai hatchback from Melbourne City Hyundai and a $10,000 musical instruments voucher from Allans Billy Hyde – was picked up within minutes by new Sydney broadcast and creative facility for the entertainment industry, The X Studio.

Three of the $3,500 Songs For The Road production rewards were snapped up in the first week. Universal Music Australia was the first record company to jump on the Bandwagon by purchasing a reward with Eric J. Three songs with producer Dennis Dowlut was bought by Sydney songstress Sera Rose. APRA AMCOS bought sessions with Robert Conley, which it donated as an additional prize for the current Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition. Sessions with producers Joel Quartermain, Louis Schoorl, Magoo, Michael Szumowski, Mitch Kenny, Scott Horscroft and Tony Buchen are still up for grabs.

Support Act Chief Executive Joanna Cave, said, "We are delighted that 50% of our target has been pledged so far. But of course we cannot afford to relax just yet - crowd funding works by delivering the money pledged only once the target is reached by the deadline of 30 September.”
