PRESS RELEASE:
MTV Australia is ringing in the summer with the second instalment of MTV Beats & Eats, bringing tastes and tunes to the stunning beachside location Stuart Park, North Wollongong, NSW on Saturday 26th November.
Proudly supported by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW, the 2016 MTV Beats & Eats festival is located metres from North Wollongong Beach and will host up to 10,000 festival goers, main-stage performances, delicious food stalls and bars, and a whole bunch of crazy activities you would only expect from MTV. First release tickets are now available for only $15 from mtv.com.au/beatsandeats, but get in quick as this price is limited!
The first acts to be announced for the MTV Beats & Eats festival line-up are New Zealand rapper Savage, electronic producer Paces and kiwi electo-pop sensation MAALA, with more acts to be released soon.
Returning to the MTV Beats & Eats stage, the Best World Wide Act EMA Award winner, Savage, became the first New Zealand hip hop artist in history to have a commercial single ‘Swing’ achieve platinum certification status in the United States for selling over one million copies. Having now sold in excess of 2 million records as a hip-hop artist, his five times platinum dance single ‘Freaks’ with Timmy Trumpet has also amassed over 70 million views online, turning the Kiwi hero into a dominating success worldwide.
Also hitting the MTV Beats & Eats decks is electronic producer Paces. Best known for his single ’Nothing’s Forever and ‘1993 (No Chill)’, Paces has also collaborated with Australia’s best of the best, including Tkay Maidza and Guy Sebastian. The producer, who has already knocked out official remixes for Years & Years, Tinashe and Hermitude and has performed sold out tours across Australia, will get the party started with his electronic dance music beats.
Another kiwi in the line-up, MAALA is known for his single ‘Touch’ which reached number 2 on the alternative airplay charts and has over 1 million streams on Spotify. Recently performing the opening slot on Flume’s NZ tour, MAALA has already performed in London, New York, LA and Sydney.
