What do you get when two up-and-coming dance artists merge for a music project? Carmada, that’s what – and they’re taking the EDM scene by storm.

Drew Carmody (aka L D R U) and Max Aramata (aka Yahtzel) are Carmada, and already, the duo have made an international name for themselves in the indie dance scene. On their own, the two artists have caused quite a stir over in the last few years.

When L D R U released his breakthrough single The Tropics in 2013, it propelled his music into the international market and garnered praise from the likes of Skrillex, Diplo and What So Not. Since then, he’s played in front of thousands at Stereosonic, Future Music Festival and Field Day, and has been invited to create remixes for artists including Flume, Lorde and New Zealand brother-sister duo Broods.

Yahtzel is representing Australia as an innovator in dance music. Following the viral online success of his track High With Me, and having been featured on Flume’s BBC6’s radio mix and YouTube channel Majestic Casual, Yahtzel embarked on a 26-stop Australasian tour that saw him performing in front of sold-out crowds including at national festivals Listen Out, Field Day and Stereosonic.

Even as individual artists, L D R U and Yahtzel have been long time friends – sharing the stage together at various music festivals, as well as sharing a league of similar fans. Upon finishing their individual 2014 Splendour In The Grass shows, the two pooled their talents and became Carmada – releasing their first joint single The Only One through Sydney-based indie record label Future Classic. This ultimately paved way for their debut EP Realise, sold out Australian tours, a stop at Ultra Music Festival in the US and a certified-Gold record.

Coming full circle, the boys are set to tear up the stage at Splendour In The Grass this month. Showing no signs of stopping, the up-and-coming duo has already achieved a number of career milestones – and this is only the beginning.
