music industry reacts to sharon jones death

The music industry worldwide has reacted in solidarity to the death of powerhouse soul singer Sharon Jones on Friday (Saturday AEST). Artists, industry professionals and famous venues that staged the 60-year-old singer have collectively expressed their sympathies on social media.

Among the artists paying tribute to the captivating vocalist were Michael Buble, Jason Isbell, Keith Sweat, John Legend, Leon Bridges and Jones’ band, The Dap-Kings, which performed alongside her and contributed significantly to the Soul revival in New York City.

Classic venues such as the Apollo Theater in Harlem and The Hollywood Bowl also offered their condolences to the “queen of soul” who made unforgettable appearances at the venues. Further to the reaction on social media was the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which expressed their honour in hosting Jones and The Dap-Kings in 2010.
