Sydney-based Music Sales’ Campbell Connelly Australia has signed a sub-publishing agreement for Australia and New Zealand with Canada’s CCS Rights Management.

CCS was set up by Canadian publishing powerhouse Jodie Ferneyhough.

He was head of Universal Music Publishing Canada and peermusic, and former president of the Canadian Music Publishers Association.

His strategy for the company was to be artist friendly, and find innovative ways to make money for his roster.

His acts include Poor Nameless Boy, Tim Chaisson and Terra Lightfoot (all of whom have toured Australia) as well as Steve Strongman, Sultans of Strings, Maia Davies, Chloe Charles, Gavin Brown, Sampson, Colin James, and Nathan McNevin (The Silence Factory).

The catalogue also contains the TV music of kid’s hit show Paw Patrol.

On the signing, Music Sales’ managing director, Jane English, said "We discovered a simpatico with Jodie’s CCS Rights Management in style and philosophy – old school hands-on publishing with lots of writer attention.

“With several of Jodie’s writers frequently visiting Australia, and our A&R manager, Larry Heath, frequently visiting Canada, we plan lots of liaising as we build the profiles of the CCS writers in this territory."

Ferneyhough’s take on the new partnership:  “We are thrilled to partner with Music Sales.

“The team feels like an extension of our company, having the same philosophies, principles and work ethic.

“They have shown enthusiasm for our roster and are eager to jump in and help grow their careers in the Australian and New Zealand markets.

“We are very excited to be in such great hands!’
