Beats 1 lines up more new hosts

Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio station is confirming more new hosts for its shows. Run The Jewels and Soulection will curate their own shows. The Rebel Sound collective will every two weeks have a two-hour slot to present new music and tracks that inspired them. The NME’s new Music Editor Matt Wilkinson will host Monitor. The premiere of Pharrell Williams’ OTHERtone had Justin Timberlake and Cara Delevigne as surprise guests.

Fairlie Hamilton back at i98

Former i98 Wollongong presenter Fairlie Hamilton returned on Monday to co-host the breakfast slot with Marty Haynes replacing Bianca Dye. Hamilton was at i98 for six years before heading off to overseas to travel and work in London before returning to present on the Nova network.

New Sony Music CEO

Randy Goodman began this week as CEO of Sony Music Nashville. He started his career at the RCA Label Group in Nashville, working with Waylon Jennings, Alabama, Dave Matthews Band, Martina McBride and Clint Black.

As US electronics company Sonos expands its hifi wireless speakers and home audio systems to the global music and audio tech sectors it brought over Joy Howard as Global Chief Marketing. She had that role at clothing firm Patagonia.

Two new executives at ACMI

Emma Levy begins as Head of Marketing on August 3 and Tamara Harrison in the newly created role of Head of Development on August 10 at Melbourne’s ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image). Levy was Group Marketing Manager at Madman Entertainment, Harrison was Executive Producer/Co-CEO of Polyglot Theatre.

New appointments at Junkee Media

A week after youth publisher Sound Alliance rebranded as Junkee Media, it promoted Content Director Tim Duggan to publisher. Duggan joined in 2006 as co-founder of gay and lesbian site SameSame.com.au and became Marketing Director for Sound Alliance in 2009.

Ian Grant is promoted to Chief Information Officer. Vincent Rommerlaere who ran own production company Wallaby Way, joins as Head of Video to create branded video content for social media and owned channels.

Aquis takes battle to Jupiters

As Hong Kong’s Aquis group moves to secure a second Gold Coast casino licence for the $160 million Sheraton Mirage Resort, it has brought on board as a consultant the former GM of rival Jupiters, which is undergoing a $300 million revamp. Aaron Gomes left Jupiters parent Echo Entertainment suddenly last May and returned to the US where he developed two casinos for JNB Gaming.

Janelle Marr to chair ScreenWest

Janelle Marr, board member of Screen West since January 2013, is now its Chair. With a background in strategy, governance and finance, she replaces Peter Rowe who held the role for four years. Screen West recently released its Indigenous Screen Strategy 2016-2020 to increase international awareness of WA’s First Australian stories and talent, continuing a successful five year policy which grossed $10 million in indigenous film and TV production from a $2 million investment.

Samsung Australia finds new marketing head

Samsung Australia promoted iVP of Consumer Electronics, Phillip Newton, to Chief Marketing Officer. Its former marketing head, the highly regarded Arno Lenior left in April.

New owner for Geelong venue

The music showcasing Carrington Hotel in Geelong, Victoria, has a new owner, Cameron O'Keefe is re-branding it as Centra with a revamp to open to the public in September.
