Musos come together for Fossil Fuel Reduction Group
Green Music Australia is calling on musicians to support its Amplify Divestment campaign. It wants the community, to “put their banks on notice.” By which they make good their threat to pull their money from banks and superannuation funds, which financially support new coal export projects in Queensland. Ash Grunwald, Rob Hirst, Missy Higgins and Mama Kin have signed on.
Green Music Australia is targeting musicians as “Musicians have more power than most people in taking this step. You won’t just influence your bank – you can influence your fans to join this rapidly growing campaign, and you can influence the whole public debate about coal and help take away its social licence to operate. Once you commit to this process, we’ll be asking you to talk about it – to other musicians, to your fans, to your manager or agent – to anyone who’ll listen!” More info at http://amplifydivestment.org/.
