ABC TV Plus is set to air Nick Cave's 2020 music special Idiot Prayer: Nick Cave Alone At Alexandra Place for the first time on Australian television.

The special was filmed in the namesake London venue in June of last year, before being streamed globally to ticket-holders the following month.

While it was initially a one-time only viewing event, the special aired in cinemas towards the end of last year, with an accompanying live album released in November 2020.

Idiot Prayer: Nick Cave Alone At Alexandra Place will air on ABC TV Plus at 8:30pm on Friday, November 18.

Last weekend, ABC premiered the third season of Mushroom Group's The Sound, the first season to go ahead since the passing of its creator Michael Gudinski.

Artist programmer,Susan Heymann, told The Music Network it's often a battle to get more Aussie music on Australian TV.

“We’re just going to be focused on the performances and on the talent,” she said of this season.

“We haven’t got the news segment. We haven’t got the new music segment with that shorter duration. We just wanted to maximise the number of performances we could include in that 28-minute episode.”

Earlier this week, ABC also revealed it had obtained exclusive broadcast rights to the annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade for the next three years, with triple j securing the radio broadcast rights.

ABC TV Plus is one of the ABC's digital multi-channels, formerly known as ABC2 and ABC Comedy.
