ocean grove announce new management and worldwide agency

PRESS RELEASE:

Ocean Grove, Melbourne’s purveyors of Odd World Music, have delivered their brand new single “These Boys Light Fires”, a breathless trip through ’90s nostalgia that was written, recorded and produced entirely by the band in their 19-year-old drummer/producer Sam Bassal’s bedroom. The tune was premiered last night on triple j’s Good Nights and can he heard below.

Frontman Luke Holmes says "These Boys Light Fires" is an anthem for celebrating life: "Although we have always maintained a songwriting style that is very vivid and open to the emotional interpretation of a listener, the undercurrent theme of ’These Boys Light Fires’ is a journey. Written from the viewpoint of someone walking through a garden or labyrinth, ’These Boys Light Fires’ also draws parallels with our own journey in referencing our growth as people since the last record. It happens very rarely but this song came to me almost instantaneously brought on by the upbeat and optimistic touch to the instrumental of which I couldn’t help but elicit a positive response. I view this song as a celebration of life and an anthem for people embracing it.

"As we wrote the song we were very conscious of its potential to translate tremendously live, it’s very high energy and I think Dale Tanner’s delivery is the best we’ve seen from him. The sample during the bridge is a voice recording I found on my phone the night after an all-time house party/funeral/demolition."

Ocean Grove have also signed to UNIFIED for worldwide Artist Management under the guidance of Luke Logemann (Northlane, In Hearts Wake) and Caleb Williams (The Amity Affliction, Bodyjar). They have secured agency representation in North America from United Talent Agency, with Dave Shapiro (A Day To Remember, Limp Bizkit) and Chad Lehner (PVRIS) on board. In Australia, Village Sounds agent Evan Davies (Violent Soho, Courtney Barnett, Vance Joy) has come on board to represent. With the team forming and coming together, the band is ready for a worldwide launch in 2017.

Emerging from the depths of Melbourne, Ocean Grove (completed by their sixth/studio member Running Touch) have been peddling their erratic live show up and down the highways of Australia while striving to develop a distinguishable sound like no other, a feat they fully realised in 2016. Their first single under the UNFD banner, "Lights On Kind Of Lover", has notched up over half a million streams on Spotify and continues to climb. Over the past 12 months, Ocean Grove have impressed every audience they’ve been thrust in front of, with their head turning performances on UNIFY 2016 and the mammoth Equinox tour announcing Ocean Grove’s arrival on a national scale.

Recently wrapping up a sold out headline tour of Australia as well as a sold out ARIA week showcase, Ocean Grove will be back in the van in January, stopping at UNIFY 2017 and then heading around the country with The Amity Affliction and Hellions straight after.
