on the dial group content directors speak out post ratings entries open for acras iheartradio australia live series

Following Survey #1 for 2015, we hooked up with a couple of the Group Content Directors.

Duncan Campbell: "I think we’ll continue to be the dominant network"

We talked with Duncan Campbell on ARN. We’ll cut to the chase on Melbourne and Sydney, and whilst some good news for Kiis, the Classic Gold brands took some hits. And will the Kiis brand make a move into Perth?

Paul Jackson: "This is what it’s about.”

During our talk with Nova Entertainment’s Paul Jackson we cover off each Nova Entertainment market, talk about Tony Thomas’ prediction that Smooth will be Number 1, and what has Paul saying: "If you’re any programmer in any of these stations it doesn’t get better than this really. What a chance to prove yourself.”?

The Hit Network. Is it a Hit or is it a Dud? - Part 1

In light of the recent ‘Hit’ ratings results in Adelaide, Perth and Sydney, here are a few further thoughts.

In radio it is worth remembering that “the content largely creates the brand”, so any focus on branding alone … misses the point.

What is more important than the brand name is the product, in radio’s case the content – the music, breakfast show, imaging, drive and night shows – i.e., the programming.  That said, a fresh, new brand name in certain extreme circumstances, can act as a focal point for the listener.

Entries open for ACRAs

Entries are now open for the 2015 Australian Commercial Radio Awards. The 27th annual ACRAs will call the Gold Coast home on October 10.

Last year’s Best On Air Team FM was won by WS FM’s Jonesy & Amanda. Best On Air Team AM was won for the third year in a row by Melbourne 3AW’s Ross Stevenson and John Burns. Best Current Affairs was won by 3AW’s Neil Mitchell with Best Talk Presenter was won for the first time by 2GB’s Ben Fordham.

CEO of CRA Joan Warner said: “This year promises to be another outstanding event, celebrating the wonderful talent within the radio industry. With the increase in competition, particularly between breakfast and drive teams around the country, we hope to receive record entries this year”.

iHeartRadio Australia Live series

Hozier, the guy behind Take Me To Church will front the first iHeartRadio Australia Live gig for 2015.

ARN and Emotive are bringing the Irish singer-songwriter to Sydney for an intimate gig at The X Studio, in Sydney’s Kings Cross later this month.
