850 talented teens uploaded 1280 songs in Unearthed High this year. The guys and girls at triple j listened to them all and narrowed it down to the top five Unearthed High finalists for 2015. 

For the winner, they will receive airplay on triple j and triple j Unearthed, have a song professionally recorded by triple j and get some professional advice from a top Australian act and their manager, with the choice of Illy, The Jezabels, Alison Wonderland, Northlane or Art vs Science.

MRN launches The Rugby Show

This Sunday the Macquarie Radio Network launched The Rugby Show across 2GB, 4BC and into Melbourne and Perth via NTS Digital. Fronted by former Wallaby and Waratah Phil Waugh and Macquarie Radio Sports Presenter James Willis, the show will cover the Bledisloe Cup and Rugby Championships and then follow the path of the Wallabies in the Rugby World Cup being played in the UK.

Macquarie says it has worked closely with the Australian Rugby Union to secure access to players, coaches and officials to provide the most compelling rugby union content, plus listeners will receive the best insight and analysis with a number of FOX SPORTS rugby commentators set to make appearances on the show. 

Strong Metro revenue growth

The commercial radio industry has recorded growth in metro advertising revenue of 8.6% for July. The figures from Commercial Radio Australia and sourced by Deloitte, showed the industry clocked over $61.893 million for the month.

The good news was spread across all markets. The biggest jump was in Adelaide  up 11.51% to $5.828 million.  Melbourne increased 10.31% to $19.078 million.  Brisbane continued the trend up with an 8.43% increase to $9.843 million.  Sydney up 7.65% to $18.926 million and Perth also grew 5.20% to $8.218 million.  Overall

The revenue growth in July follows a good financial year total in metropolitan ad revenue reported last month, that saw the industry up 5.06%, to a total of $732.433 million.
