TMN’s charts team predict the hottest new music breaking over the next quarter. From emerging acts to established artists, we’ll give you our industry tips, based on forthcoming album releases, past performance, inside info and a myriad of charts data.

Parkway Drive

Ire

(Resist/Epitaph) Out September 25

Australia’s largest metalcore export Parkway Drive will release Ire on the 25th of September via Resist Records, marking the fifth studio album to come from the Byron Bay act. The group have seen plenty of success on the ARIA Albums chart in the past, with each release charting higher than the last. Debut album Killing With A Smile peaked at #39, while albums Horizons and Atlas peaked at #6 and #3 respectively. Their career peak however, is held by 2010’s Deep Blue which peaked at #2. Ire is set to beat that with the record picked to be their strongest chance at a #1 debut yet.

The band have always had a huge local following though their international profile has flourished even more in the years between Ire and Atlas. Consistent European and American dates including plenty of major festivals, and the recently announced 30-date Ire North America tour are building a groundswell to be reckoned with.

Locally the album and tour are on track to be great successes. Both singles Vice Grip and the recently released Crushed have both received airplay or additions at the very least on triple j. The band already sold out one show on their national tour and with Memphis May Fire, The World Alive and Thy Art Is Murder as support acts, it gives this tour huge pulling potential.

Australia has also proved in recent times that fans of heavy music are buying long players; the recent #1 debut from Northlane's Node, In Hearts Wake’s #2 debut for Skydancer and Thy Art Is Murder’s #7 debut for Holy War are proof enough of this fact.

Caitlyn Shadbolt

Caitlyn Shadbolt

(ABC/UMA) Out August 21

Caitlyn Shadbolt’s debut self-titled EP was released last week via ABC Music. The X Factor 2014 Top 5 finalist has had a successful year in the world of country music so far. Her debut single released earlier this year, Maps Out The Window saw plenty of chart success hitting #1 on the iTunes Country Singles chart and achieving a peak of #4 on the TMN Official Airplay Country Top 20.

This self-titled release is just what she needs to help break out further into the mainstream country sphere; this isn't to say she's not already an emerging player on the live circuit with tour dates taking her all the way up until December, including the main stage at the Gympie Music Muster.

Though the charts aren’t out yet, first week sales predictions pin this release as entering in the Top 50. Ahead of the a launch, follow-up single Shoot Out The Lights was released and as of last week, debuted at #12 on the Official Airplay Country Top 20 and could very well set a new career peak for the artist given the fast adoption of the track by country radio.
