TMN’s charts team predict the hottest new music breaking over the next quarter. From emerging acts to established artists, we’ll give you our industry tips, based on forthcoming album releases, past performance, inside info and a myriad of charts data.

Galantis
Pharmacy
(WMA) Out June 12

Swedish EDM songwriting and production duo Galantis have their forthcoming debut LP Pharmacy set for release on June 12. The duo recently came under international spotlight with their hit single Runaway (U & I). The track, which is the lead single on Pharmacy, has so far hit #1 on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artist chart, reached Gold certification in Finland, 3x Gold in the Netherlands and Platinum in Norway and Sweden.

Locally the track is performing exceptionally well, peaking at #11 on the TMN Hot 100 and currently sitting at #12. It’s at #2 on the ARIA Dance chart, peaked at #4 on the ARIA Singles chart and #11 on the Shazam and iTunes charts. Pharmacy is set to be one of the more noteworthy June releases and has placed a lot of eyes and ears on Galantis to see of they can keep up the hype.

Gin Wigmore
Blood To Bone
(ISLAU/UMA) Out June 26

New Zealand soul-pop chanteuse Gin Wigmore is back with her third studio album, Blood To Bone. Lead single New Rush brings Wigmore’s smoky, soul-wrenching voice to the forefront and instantly reminds us what we’ve been missing. Like the gritty album imagery, expect the songs to be darkly textured with an alt-pop feel – due in part to her collaboration with Mercury Prize-winner Charlie Andrews (whose credits include Alt-J and Matt Corby).

The album was recorded in Los Angeles, and co-produced by Wigmore herself. Speaking about the process, Wigmore says, “spending time with Charlie has opened my mind in ways unimaginable and truly set the pace for the album… The whole idea for this album was to write songs and rhythms that pushed far beyond what I had ever tried before.”

Album cut New Rush has already reached Top 10 in the NZ charts, boosted by a live performance on The X Factor NZ. Wigmore has previously toured with Jimmy Barnes, and as a sign of her versatility, appeared on the 2013 Warped Tour.
