TMN’s charts team predict the hottest new music breaking over the next quarter. From emerging acts to established artists, we’ll give you our industry tips, based on forthcoming album releases, past performance, inside info and a myriad of charts data.

Jarryd James

Thirty One

(Dryden St/UMA) Out September 21

One of the biggest commercial breakthrough artists this year, Jarryd James, will release his debut album Thirty One through Dryden St/Universal Music Australia. The album has an impressive list of co-writers, including the likes of Joel Little (Lorde, Broods) and Matt Corby. James first made himself known to the Australian public with his breakthrough 2x Platinum hit Do You Remember, which peaked at #1 on the TMN Hot 100 and has since exploded in popularity. He followed it up with singles Give Me Something and Regardless featuring Julia Stone. The release of this album will likely add to the list of huge achievements that the Brisbane artist has already knocked out this year including plenty of sellout dates locally, supporting Angus and Julia Stone on their national tour, touring with Tove Lo in Europe, and most recently, being announced as part of The Falls Music & Art Festival lineup. This ought to set a precedent for all future Jarryd James releases.

Thirsty Merc

Shifting Gears

The fourth LP from quintessential Australian pop-rock group Thirsty Merc follows a successful crowd funding campaign via PledgeMusic earlier this year, which hit its goal in 48 hours. First single The Good Life made it into the Most Added To Radio chart earlier last month following an across the board addition to the entire Regional Hit Network. Following the release, the band are set to embark on a three-month national tour of the album, taking on metro venues as well as stopping by parts of regional Australia.
