Soon after their rehearsal, they’ll have a mixed and mastered recording ready for review in their secure OpenLIVE dashboard and for band members to share between one another.

OpenLIVE, the Australian company which allows acts to record their gigs, has expanded its operations to rehearsals.

It’s done this by installing their cloud-patented based recording system permanently in The Hen House Perth and Kindred Studios Melbourne.

Musicians can schedule a recording for their rehearsal in less than two minutes.

Soon after their rehearsal, they’ll have a mixed and mastered recording ready for review in their secure OpenLIVE dashboard and for band members to share between one another.

Tom Wilson, general manager at The Hen House describes the process as “amazingly simple".

"Booking in the recording is easy with bands able to do this from their smartphone literally minutes before they begin rehearsing.

"It’s a great new service and we’re stoked to be the first OpenLIVE Certified rehearsal space in Perth.”

As with the recording of live gigs, there’s no cost to book in a recording at either venue.

“Booking the recordings for free is something that we see as important,” explains Ando McDougall from OpenLIVE.

“Free recordings make it a no-brainer to record every gig and now every rehearsal.

“Bands can listen to previews of their rehearsal in their private OpenLIVE dashboard and if they like it, they can purchase an MP3 download for $4 per hour of recording, a Hi-Res FLAC download for $6 per hour of recording or $8 per hour for the original 4ch Stems.”

OpenLIVE has already been in venues in Melbourne (including The Corner Hotel, The Tote, Northcote Social Club, Bar Open and The Evelyn), Brisbane (The Brightside, The Triffid, Black Bear Lodge), Sydney (Oxford Arts Factory, Bald Faced Stag) and Perth (Badlands Bar, The Sewing Room).
