Thirteen years since it opened its doors, Perth music and arts club The Bakery is up for sale. The lease for the Northbridge venue is held by alt-arts not-for-profit organisation Artage until the end of next March, and events will continue until then.

Artage runs the Fringe World Festival and Rooftop Movies. It is expected that Fringe World’s Budgie Smuggler Artist Club in February will be the final event there.

The Bakery is the second Perth venue in recent weeks to have a question held over its long time future. The lease for Fly By Night Musicians Club runs out in September, and the building’s owner has opened up expressions of interest to other tenants.

In related news, after 18 months of renovation that cost ”several millions”, The Subiaco Hotel, which showcases live music, re-opens this Friday.
