Just one week after the Australian Music Industry Network (AMIN) struck a deal with the Travel Beyond Group, to offer massive discounts on flights, car hire and accommodation for members of AMIN’s state music associations, Qantas have joined the chorus.
The airline today announced changes to its Carriage of Musical Instrument Policy including a free baggage allowance of three pieces (at 23kgs per piece) for artists - meaning artists could potentially fly with 69kgs of excess baggage.
Speaking to TMN, Music Victoria CEO/Chair of AMIN Patrick Donovan said: “We’re thrilled. It’s been great as Chair of AMIN to see us unite nationally and have a stronger bargaining position.”
This increased baggage allowance, which will be set into motion on April 13, is available on Qantas and QantasLink domestic services and is not applicable to flights operated by partner airlines.
The flight must be booked via a specialist music industry travel agency two or more business days prior to departure. Request the Musicians Additional Baggage Allowance via email to: qicmusicbag@qantas.com.au
