Queen’s biopic Bohemian Rhapsody is back on track for a December 25, 2018 release after a major hiccup this week.

A new director Dexter Fletcher was announced two days after Bryan Singer was sacked.

Fox says that filming will resume next week.

Singer was dumped after a lengthy absence from the London set, which led to its shut down.

There were various versions as to why Singer, known for directing The Usual Suspects and four X-Men movies, was shown the door.

One was that there were increasing clashes between him and lead actor Rami Malek who plays Freddie Mercury.

Singer has disputed this, but admitted there were some “creative differences” with Malek.

But he had to “return to the U.S. to deal with pressing health matters concerning one of my parents.”

He added, "this was a very taxing experience, which ultimately took a serious toll on my own health.

“Unfortunately, the studio was unwilling to accommodate me and terminated my services.”

Dexter Fletcher is an English actor, writer and director who turns 52 next month.

The one-time child actor’s acting roles have seen him in Kick-Ass, Bugsy Malone and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

He has directed the western Wild Bill, (2011), the musical based around The Proclaimers song Sunshine On Leith (2013) and the biopic of English ski-jumper Eddie Edwards, Eddie The Eagle (2016)
