Sony Music Entertainment Australia has announced the appointment of Ryan Wilson to the role of Director, Electronic Music.
Ryan is responsible for identifying new electronic music artists and tracks for both recording and broader rights arrangements with Sony Music, as well as marketing those artists in Australia and Asia. Ryan reports to Denis Handlin AM, Sony Music Chairman & CEO, Australia & New Zealand and President, Asia. He will also work closely with the Sony Music marketing and A&R teams.
Ryan has excellent industry relationships in the electronic music scene giving him valuable insight into emerging new music trends and talents. Ryan brings over 15 years industry experience to Sony Music, with his most recent role being the National & International, Marketing & Promotions Manager for onelove where he was also heavily involved in A&R across numerous projects.
From 2005 to 2011, Ryan was the Music Director at Fresh 92.7, an Adelaide based youth and community radio station and Australia’s leading 24 hour dance radio station. Ryan also produces and hosts ‘Release’, the longest running electronic dance music radio show in Australia, which is also broadcast weekly throughout the world and is currently at Episode 754 and continuing.
Ryan is also an established producer and DJ, having been awarded ‘South Australian DJ of The Year’ for three consecutive years. His most recent remix work is 'A.N.D.Y. - Chemicals ft Vanya Taylor (Reelax Remix)' for Sony Belgium / Epic Amsterdam.
Jon Hanlon who previously held the role of Director, Electronic Music, is leaving the company to concentrate on his business interests and Sony Music wishes him all the best for the future.
