SBS announces new Eurovision hosts

SBS has announced media personality Myf Warhurst and comedian Joel Creasey as the new hosts of its Eurovision coverage.

They replace Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang who held the roles for eight years. 

Warhurst, who was a member of the judging panel last year, calls the hosting role “an absolute dream gig”. 

Creasey says he accepted the job to “give Aussies an all-access pass that I think we truly deserve as gate-crashers”.

"Australians have embraced Eurovision since SBS’s first broadcast more than 30 years ago and as a nation, we feel incredible warmth and admiration for the countries, their cultures, the contest, and what it represents," said SBS Managing Director Michael Ebeid.

"Already loved by Australian audiences, Joel Creasey and Myf Warhurst perfectly capture this spirit, and we’re thrilled to welcome them as SBS’s new Eurovision hosts."

This year’s contest in Ukraine has been embroiled in a number of financial and political intrigue in recent weeks.

The entire executive team quit complaining the Government had not allocated enough funding.

Earlier this week, the Ukraine rejected Russia’s entry citing that she had illegally performed in Crimea and that they would arrest her if she set foot on their soil. 

This morning Robbie Williams offered, tongue firmly in cheek, to represent Russia at the contest.
