simpsons themed doom rock duo dr colossus sign to harbour agency

PRESS RELEASE:

‘Simpsons themed doom rock duo’ Dr. Colossus are pleased to announce they’ve joined the esteemed band roster of The Harbour Agency. The band who’s lyrical themes range from Abe Simpson’s Onion Belt to the tale of ‘Whacking Day’ will now be booked exclusively through Australia’s largest booking agency who is part of The Mushroom Group.

Featuring ‘Dr. Jon’ on vocals and guitar with ’Dr. Johnston’ on drums, Dr. Colossus harnesses the stoner-rock/doom stylings of Black Sabbath, Kyuss and Sleep to craft songs based on episodes of everyones favourite cartoon of disfunctional characters... The Simpsons.

Earlier this year, so impressed with their live show, Cherry Rock Festival booker James Young snatched up Dr. Colossus for the ‘Cherry Rock 2015’ lineup alongside US giants ‘Red Fang’, ‘The Shrine’ and NZ’s ‘Beastwars’. The duo also invited to support Beastwars during their Melbourne appearances.

Their 2014 ‘IV’ EP (Based entirely on Season 4 of the show) sparked a great deal of interest both locally and internationally through not only it’s wacky concept but the genuinely serious musical output. UK blog ‘Ride With The Devil’ lists the EP in their Top 10 Releases of 2014 and Australian blog ‘Metal Obsession’ list ‘IV’ at #4 on their ‘Best EP’s of 2014’. The EP attracted the attention of underground German label ‘Totem’, who pressed 30 limited cassettes of the EP which sold out instantly.

Dr. Colossus’ “Shut Up and Eat Your Pinecone! / Whack Sabbath” 7” is out now through drcolossustheband.com in both digital form and ‘Snake Blood Red’ Vinyl.
