PRESS RELEASE:

After four years in the role, FBi Radio’s Music Director Stephen Goodhew is moving on from the position in January 2017. Applications for the station’s next Music Director are now open.

Goodhew’s time at FBi has seen him define the sound of 94.5FM and expand FBi Radio’s music content across a growing number of platforms. True to the station’s mission, he has ensured a place for emerging local talent to sit side-by-side with the best new international tracks on FBi’s playlist.

Highlights in his time as Music Director include curating the inaugural FBi SMACS: A Festival of Sydney Music, Arts & Culture at Carriageworks, with an all-local lineup featuring Anna Lunoe, Wave Racer, Dustin Tebbutt, Montaigne, Fishing, Sampa The Great and more. Goodhew also welcomed the likes of Gang Of Youths, Cloud Control, and Tkay Maidza to a new live-to-air performance space launched at the station in early 2015.

On his time at FBi, Goodhew says, "FBi truly is a workplace like no other. It’s been an honour and a privilege to serve as FBi’s Music Director but the time has come for me to seek new opportunities. I’m excited to see what the future brings and am proud of the work I’ve done to help ensure FBi remains a champion of new Australian music."

Managing Director, Clare Holland stated, “Stephen has such a great set of ears, and is one of the hardest working people in the industry. He has ensured that FBi remains a steady force in a shifting music landscape and has been a champion for local talent. Whilst I’m sad to see him leave the FBi fold, I’m excited for the future and wish him all the best”

Now in its fourteenth year, FBi Radio is an independent broadcaster dedicated to the music, arts & culture of Sydney. Playing 50% Australian music, with half of that from Sydney, FBi targets a demographic of 18-24 year-olds and broadcasts to over 460,000 listeners each month.

With a strong track record of discovering new talent, FBi’s next Music Director will have a unique opportunity to help define the sound of this city. Applicants for the position will need to have a great set of ears and solid programming experience. They must LOVE music, be excited by and able to discover new sounds and artists, understand the shifting media and music landscape, and have a demonstrated passion for Sydney music, arts and culture.
