Turn Up was founded by executive producer David Dean, who runs his own booking and management firm, Hostile Entertainment. Production manager, Katey O’Malley Jones, was instrumental in the success of the Myriad conference 2017 and works in production on a freelance basis in Queensland. Creative director, Andrea Smith, is a grant writer, arts business educator, and an advocate for protecting artists’ copyright. Programme director Eloise Gallagher, music business teacher at TAFE Queensland East Coast in Nambour.

The idea came from a conversation about how buoyant the Sunshine Coast scene was, and “how important it was to get the various sectors together.”

Former speakers have included artist manager and media owner Glenn Wheatley, music retail pioneer Barry Bull and manager and production executive Ted Gardner (Tool, Jane's Addiction) and Bill Hauritz (Woodford Folk Festival.

Turn Up is presented by Turn Up, Solbar, Oztix, Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance, Scenestr and Shake It Up Music.
