Support Act Ltd’s Bandwagon fund raising campaign hit its $100,000 target – two days before the crowd-funding initiative closes.

Launched on September 3 in Melbourne, 212 people registered to help Support Act continue to provide financial relief to those in the music community facing illness, injury or any other hardship. Demand for its services has leaped 500% in the last few years.

The ambitious Pozible campaign, drawing on a wide array of artists and music executives offering themselves as prizes, got off to a strong start. Minutes after it was launched, the major $25,000 Golden Nugget prize from Allans Billy Hyde consisting of a Hyundai car and $10,000 voucher for musical instruments, was snapped up by Sydney’s new The X Studio.

Support Act’s Chief Executive Joanna Cave, said today, "We are absolutely delighted to have received such a positive response to our campaign. The community has shown that music matters and that we do care about the people who make it when times are tough.”

Eleven music fans will get birthday messages from the likes of Guy Sebastian, Ian Moss, John Butler, John Williamson, Josh Pyke, Paul Dempsey, Seth Sentry, The Potbelleez and Tina Arena.

Offering mentoring services were eight names including APRA AMCOS chief executive Brett Cottle, manager John Watson of Eleven, promoter Michael Chugg, Hilltop Hoods and Something for Kate’s Paul Dempsey.

Four music fans and eleven friends each will have dinner and then be treated to an acoustic performance by the likes of Eskimo Joe, Marcia Hines and Tim Finn. Musician David Lowy of The Dead Daisies picked up the dinner with Hoodoo Gurus at Sydney’s Longrain.
