Taylor Swift’s catalogue is back on streaming services as of... now

Taylor Swift’s back catalogue, including smash hit albums 1989, Red, Speak Now and Fearless, are now up on streaming services after a three-year break.

Starting from midnight US Eastern Time (2pm today AEST), the albums could be accessed on Spotify, Google Play and Amazon Music. Swift pulled her back catalogue from those platforms in 2014 over her objection to services with free tiers.

She allowed 1989 to be streamed on Apple Music last year, over 12 months after its release, after Apple agreed to pay royalties on songs streamed during users’ three-month free trial periods.

At the time of writing, there were no singles on Swift’s Spotify page except for the hit duet with ZAYN, I Don’t Wanna Live Forever, which has been on the service since its release. This includes the hugely successful Bad Blood remix featuring Kendrick Lamar.

We’re not saying this has anything to do with Swift’s very public beef with Katy Perry. As in the above tweet, Swift’s team says it’s a celebration of 1989 selling 10 million copies. She’s also been working on new music in Nashville, and is likely to be gearing up for the release of her sixth studio album, which is rumoured for later this year. (Buzz that a surprise album would be dropped at the end of 2016, maintaining the previous pattern of new records every two years, didn’t pan out.)

But Perry’s much-hyped new album Witness – which features the Swift-baiting Swish Swish – does happen to be out today.
