the age music victoria awards face the music set for melbourne

Two Melbourne institutions, The Age Music Victoria Awards and the Face The Music conference and showcase, have announced their return dates this morning, with both forming part of Melbourne Music Week.

The awards celebrate their 12th year at 170 Russell in the city on Wednesday November 22, with self-nominations applying to all categories this year following the successful trial for the genre categories last year.

A panel of select industry figures will determine the nominees once all entries are compiled, and announce them on Friday October 13.

Entries or nominations are submitted via the website

Says Peter Knight, Artistic Director of Australian Art Orchestra which won Best Jazz Album last year,  “This recognition is so great.

“A lot of work goes into making an album and it’s wonderful for everyone involved to have those efforts celebrated.

‘We should nominate our work not only because there is a chance we might win but because these awards are also a measure of the musical richness that we have in Victoria.”
