Timberwolf inks US publishing deal

2015 was a breakout year for Timberwolf; he independently released his Flux EP (which has since hit over 1 million Spotify plays), performed to sold out crowds & audiences across the country at Groovin’ the Moo, WOMADelaide, Big Pineapple, BIGSOUND and Woodford Folk Festivals, and topped off the year winning Best Songwriter and Best Male Artist at the South Australian Music Awards.
 
Since then, Timberwolf has been hard at work writing for his forthcoming record, which today sees the release of its first single “Something That I Said”, as premiered via Stereogum & Home and Hosed. After developing, writing & honing his sound for the last year, “Something That I Said” showcases a significant progression from his earlier indie-folk influences to his long standing love for classic musicianship and song writing, taking inspiration from artists like George Harrison, Jeff Buckley and Jeff Lynn.
 
Having written and performed all the instruments on the new single - other than drums which were handled by Matt Birkin - Timberwolf co-produced “Something That I Said’’ with Jackson Barclay (Tkay Maidza, Sarah Blasko). Lyrically, "Something That I Said" is unchartered territory for Timberwolf, with the track laid out like a candid conversation. As he explains,“Hopefully "Something That I Said" is the kind of song that encourages people to celebrate feeling imperfect and a little bit shit at making friends and finding lovers, because we’re all really awkward and conflicted and anyone who thinks they’re not is even more-so.”
 
With the release of “Something That I Said”, signing to US Music Publisher Third Side Music (Courtney Barnett, Flying Lotus, BadBadNotGood, Kurt Vile, Wolf Parade) as well as booking agency SELECT Music(RÜFÜS, Ball Park Music, Montaigne), 2016 is shaping up to be an even bigger year for Timberwolf.
