Timothy Nelson & the Infidels blitzed the WA Music Awards last Friday, winning five of the seven gongs they were nominated for.
The six-piece rock soul outfit took Best Album for Terror Terror, Hide It Hide it, Best Pop Act, Best Keys /Synth Artist (Timothy Nelson), Best Male Vocalist (Nelson) and Best Guitarist (Luke Dux).
Poptronica act KUČKA made it three times to the stage to pick up Best Single for Unconditional, Best Electronic Act and Best Experimental Act.
Scoring two a-piece were Pond (Most Popular Act, Most Popular Live Act), The Love Junkies (Best Rock Act, Best Drummer for Lewis Walsh) and blues rockers The Floors (Best Blues and Roots Act, Best Bassist for Ryan Dux).
The night also belonged to Jodie Regan, who took both the prestigious Golden WAMi and the Management Award. Regan founded Spinning Top and manages Tame Impala, Pond and Felicity Groom.
Vying for the Golden WAMi against Regan had been Mojo’s club owner Andrew Ryan, X Press editor Bob Gordon, artist manager Luke Rinaldi and community radio station RTRFM breakfast host and producer Peter Barr
The public voted St Jerome’s Laneway Festival its favourite Music Event for a second year in a row, and Mojo’s as its Most Popular Venue.

Other winners were Abbe May (Best Female Artist), the John Butler Trio (Most Popular Music Video for Only One), Hideous Sun Demon (Most Popular New Act) Mt. Mountain (Breakthrough Artist) and Peter Barr (Media Award).
Genre trophies went to Puck (metal/heavy), David Craft (folk), Ruby Boots (country), Vanity (punk/hardcore), Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse (indigenous). Mathas (urban) The Weapon Is Sound (world) and Tom O’Halloran (jazz).
In Craft wins, Best Sound Engineer (live) went to Chris Wright, Best Sound Engineer (studio) to Adam Round, Best Electronic Producer to Diger Rokwell and Best Bassist to Steven Aaron Hughes of Usurper Of Modern Medicine
Bad Seeds/Grinderman bassist Martyn P, Casey and manager Phil Stevens (John Butler Trio, Waifs, San Cisco) were inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The awards’ celebration of WA music, was followed the next night by ‘Saturday Spectacular’ where 54 acts played across seven venues for free.
