Tkay Maidza
U-Huh

It’s hard to believe that Tkay Maidza has only just turned 18. The Zimbabwe-born rapper who now calls Adelaide home first came to our attention at the beginning of last year when she uploaded some tracks to triplejunearthed.com. It wasn’t long before Unearthed made her a feature artist, as well as giving her a spot on the Unearthed stage at Bigsound that year. Industry buzz grew fiercely after that, and her stomping track Brontosaurus blew up on the airwaves.

2014 has been a big year for Tkay already, touring with Nina Las Vegas, Wave Racer, Emoh Instead and Citizen Kay to name a few, as well as about to make her Splendour In The Grass debut next week in Byron Bay and signing to Dew Process. Earlier this week, Tkay dropped into triple j and premiered her new single U-Huh with Matt & Alex, saying it was “a shout out to all the people that pretend to like you and be your friend”. Sonically it once again shows of the young emcee’s fierce rapid fire flow, and features dancefloor decimating production by Adelaide up-n-comer Elk.  If you think Brontosaurus was a big hit, U-Huh is going to blow it out of the water. Check out the track below and make sure you check her out live if you’re heading along to Splendour In The Grass.
