triple j pick of the week art vs science

Sydney bros Art vs Science have made their triumphant return with the latest taste of their long-awaited second album, the dancefloor-inducing single In This Together. After being Unearthed by triple j in 2008, the trio grew to become one of the country’s most loved live bands and in 2011 released their debut album The Experiment, which scored an ARIA, J Award nomination nods and 3 songs in the Hottest 100.

On In This Together, Art vs Science have taken their signature sound to a pounding, dark new place, combining minimal electro tones over driving live percussion and sing-a-long choruses. Talking to Kyran Wheatley on triple j breakfast this week while premiering the track, the guys said they’re deep in the mixing stage of the LP, and while the sound of it will be “a return to form”, it’ll be a different type of form, “harder in tone and louder in concept”. The record will be out later in the year, keep listening to triple j for updates.
