DZ DEATHRAYS
Blood On My Leather

Brisbane-born duo DZ Deathrays have returned to gatecrash your speakers! Shane and Simon dropped in to triple j on Wednesday to premiere Blood On My Leather with Veronica & Lewis, the first taste of new music since their ARIA award winning sophomore album Black Rat dropped in 2014.

As you’d expect, it’s another punk rock aural assault; “It’s a bit of a party jam...”, explained Shane, “...a little bit about the war on drugs, a bit tongue-in-cheek too...classic DZ song”.

It’s also the first time they’ve teamed up with one of their musical mates, inviting Sweetie from Sydney group Bloods into the studio to lay down some guest backup vocals. They’ve been slowly chipping away on their third album, once again with producer Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, The Drones, Sarah Blasko), and while it’s still a while away they couldn’t hold out after finishing off Blood On My Leather. You can hear them destroy speakers with this new gem when they take the stage at the Groovin’ The Moo Festivals that kicks off at the end of April.
