triple j pick of the week matt corby

Last week, the man with the dreamiest eyes in the music biz, Matt Corby, dropped in to the triple j studios to premiere a brand new single with Matt & Alex. It’s been over two years since we heard new music from Corby, who is not known for being prolific with his releases - but while we may have to wait patiently in between tracks, that wait is always worth it, Matt never disappoints, and with this new song Monday he takes his penchant for beautiful and simplistic melodies to a whole new benchmark.

What makes the single so unique is it’s entirely a capella; "It's just my voice...It's stomping on the ground and clapping. It feels good to have that as a composition in a weird way”, he told triple j.

Corby recorded the song in a small cottage situated in the NSW coastal town of Berry, where he wrote and recorded most of his long-awaited debut album – Monday itself only took 10 minutes to record, another testament to the natural and freakishly immense talents of the young songwriter.

Matt will be hitting the road in November for his first national tour in two years, and we can expect to see his LP released early 2016.
