Clip My Wings is the latest taste from Montaigne, the Sydney songwriter who first came to our attention when we awarded her one of the finalists spots for the 2012 Unearthed High competition - back when she was still going by her real name Jessica Cero. Since leaving High School she’s been growing from strength for strength, as seen with past hits like I’m A Fantastic Wreck and I Am Not An End, carving a unique place in the local musical landscape.

This new single was co-written and produced by Tony Buchan, and marks not only a musical growth for Montaigne, but a mental one too, as she explained to triple j: “[it’s] about attempting to push back against your oppressors...[I] have become more self-confident, I am less afraid to stand up for myself...and I am expressing that through this song”.

To help celebrate the release of this single, Montaigne and her three piece band are hitting the road throughout October and November.
