TAME IMPALA
‘Cause I’m A Man

It feels like only yesterday that I was heaping praise on Let It Happen, the first taste of Tame Impala’s upcoming third album. Three weeks on and bam! the band throws out to the world the first official single off the LP (which has been announced as being called Currents), ‘Cause I’m A Man, and it sounds like nothing Tame Impala have done before.

On this track, which Richard Kingsmill premiered on triple j earlier in the week, Kevin Parker laments over mistakes in a relationship while silky smooth tones dip into 80s easy listening and RnB ballads – usually the combination of those two styles would be something horrible, but true to form Tame Impala have created something truly unique and special in this stunner of a new track. Like the two albums before this, Currents was written, performed, recorded, produced and mixed by Kevin in his hometown of Freemantle. The band are about to kick off two weekends of headline performances at Coachella, before embarking on a US tour.
