Melbourne rockers Magic Bones hinted at something like this on their fiery last single Round The Block, which was all brash squall and relentless energy hurled at the wall. Six months later the group are back with Anytime Anywhere and they’ve somehow managed to up the ante on themselves.

This one rockets along at a whiplash-inducing pace, with surf-spy guitar lines and vocalists Kiri O’Connor and Dylan Thorpe screeching out a duet that recalls The B-52s had they popped a few mollys. Anytime Anywhere is also notable for the recording work of the band’s Richard Bowers who has been gathering a neat portfolio of studio work with like minded garage firebrands like Adelaide’s Horror My Friend. Bowers, with the help of Ryan Miller and Matt O’Connor, manages to contain the outrageous energy of Magic Bones on this tune. If the band isn’t out of breath after playing this one, then at the very least you will be.
