Mosquito Coast

It was the West Coast breeze of Mosquito Coast’s Call My Name that so charmed triple j listeners and presenters alike when the Perth two-piece uploaded it to the Unearthed website. So deep was the infatuation with this hooky yet uncomplicated stunner that we crowned Mosquito Coast as champions for Unearthed 2015 (joining a lauded graduating class that includes past winners like Asta, Japanese Wallpaper and Stonefield).

A month or so down the track and the WA duo of Naomi Robinson and Connor Barton have served up a second helping of shimmering indie pop in Commotion, recorded at triple j last weekend. Warm bass and a whirring Korg line add some beef and oomph to the duo’s sound but it still feels like the band we just fell in love with but who’re now exploring where to push their sound next.
