With his polished and wordy baritone, Sydney dwelling neo-dandy Camden has already set himself up as the localised incarnation of Morrissey for the Tumblr generation; his brief back catalogue consisting of literate indie rock narratives about sinister young men and failed sexual conquests set to wiry garage sounds.

Though such a description attests to a heavy reliance on some typically British influences with the latest single Scars it seems as though Camden and his band have at last embraced their Sydney surrounds. Hitting Camden’s Unearthed profile at an apt time, Scarsrelishes the warmth of spring and approaching summer with warm production, relaxed surf wash and some particularly hooky female harmonies that underpin a lead vocal which never fights too hard to fit in Camden’s clever writing. It’s not often that the word elegant gets attached to indie rock but it makes perfect sense here.
