When this Brissy rock squad won the opportunity to open one of triple j Unearthed’s showcases at BigSound in 2014 the band lead by livewire frontwoman Marie DeVita made the most of their chance to be in front of some industry eyeballs, bashing and burning into punters’ memories with a snarling live performance. WAAX scored that slot on the back of their Wisdom Teeth single last year which was all reckless energy jammed into two neck-whiplashing minutes.

Following that one, up was always going to be an unenviable task but the now four piece have crushed expectations with their newie I For An Eye. Two singles deep and DeVita’s yelp is already unmistakable and she shakes violently as the rest of the band race to keep up. The jagged riffs fly faster than my hyperbole so you oughta just check it out for yourself.
