The Brisbane band's follow-up to 2013 ARIA #12 charting LP Learn To Exist is bursting with the kind of blissed-out indie rock that takes cues from all over the other side of the Atlantic. At just seven tracks long, Speakerzoid (the result of misheard Sonic Youth song lyrics) was produced by two-time ARIA-winner Magoo (Midnight Oil, Regurgitator, Jebediah) and recorded inside a temporary studio set up near the NSW/QLD border. From the spiralling Kooky Eyes, to the cutting, acid-rock of Devil's Play, Speakerzoid takes worthwhile risks in all the right places.
