UMA has announced the signing of rising alt-country singer-songwriter Tori Forsyth to the Australian arm of renowned label Lost Highway.
The label’s local roster included Shane Nicholson, Imogen Clark, and Catherine Britt.
Forsyth, a 22-year-old who grew up on a family farm in the Hunter Valley, self-funded and self-released her debut EP Black Bird last year, and the title track became KIX Country Network’s Hottest Track of 2016. Her next single ’New Wall’ also reached #2 on the Spotify Viral chart.
Nicholson produced her new single ’Grave Robber’s Daughter’ and her first album, due next year.
“Shane brought Tori to Lost Highway, as he’s a staff producer for the label," UMA managing director Mike Taylor told TMN. "I loved what I heard, and totally agreed with him we should sign her to the label.
"She fits exactly in the Lost Highway’s culture and lane, and we believe her potential as a serious alt country artist will be big.”
“I’ll never forget receiving the message from Shane asking if I was interested in having a meeting with Lost Highway," Forsyth said in a statement. "Fast forward a year and here we are.

"Working with Shane on this record was a given after he engineered my debut EP and I feel privileged to have him so involved. There was a really special energy present while creating the album."
With the backing of a name like Nicholson and UMA/LHA, her debut full-length is likely to be one of 2018’s most hotly anticipated country albums.
