umpg offers songwriters royalty advances with new update

Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) songwriters like Imagine Dragons, Keith Urban, Adele and Florence + the Machine can now request an advance against their incoming royalties for no additional fee with the publisher's latest Royalty Window update.

Additional to theOne-Click Advance” service, the enhancement to its online royalty account portal, Royalty Window, sees the publisher offer account holders balance updates as royalties are processed during the royalty period.

The new feature which went live today is currently only on offer to account holders in the US and the UK, however a global roll-out is expected in the next year.

Royalty Window is also accessed by UMPG publishing partners worldwide including entertainment and business managers, and major film studios.

Michael J. Sammis, EVP-Operations and Worldwide Chief Financial Officer said: “Innovation, technology and a significant administrative presence in all major global music markets are the keys to maximizing income and opportunities for ourselves and our writer clients.

“We continue to concentrate our efforts on these and other priorities of our writers including increased transparency, access and best-in-class administration globally.”
