Vance Joy just took over the record for the longest run in the Top 100 of the ARIA Singles chart.

Beating out Lady Gaga’s single Poker Face, which spent 106 weeks in the Top 100, Vance Joy aka James Keogh has set a new record with Riptide spending 107 consecutive weeks in the ARIA chart.

It should be noted that Poker Face and the track behind it, The Black Eyed Peas’ I Gotta Feeling (105 weeks) both didn’t achieve consecutive runs in the Top 100.

Riptide entered the ARIA Singles chart on April 29 2013 at #41 and peaked at #6 on February 3 last year. Overall, it spent five weeks in the Top 10 and 45 weeks in the Top 50. The Melbourne artist also trumps the previous best result for an Australian artist, Gotye’s global #1 Somebody That I Used To Know, which remained in the Top 100 for 89 weeks from 2011 to 2013.

On the TMN Hot 100 Riptide peaked at #3 and has stayed in the Hot 100 for 94 weeks; it currently sits at #91.

Vance Joy's manager Jaddan Comerford told TMN: “We are obviously incredibly proud of James and everything he continues to achieve. This milestone is yet another testament to his ability to write, record and perform incredible songs.”

Earlier this month, the track was crowned Grand Prize winner of the 2014 International Songwriting Competition. Keogh was the first entrant in the 14-year history of the competition to receive a perfect score from every judge.

Riptide has already sold over one million copies worldwide, is certified 3x Platinum in Australia, 2x Platinum in the USA, 3x Platinum in Canada and the clip, directed by Dimitri Basil, has been viewed over 65 million times.

The track has featured in The Inbetweeners 2 film, in TV series Stalker and synced to advertising campaigns for Go Pro.

Next week, Vance Joy joins Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour.
