Two of MCM Media’s strongest initiatives, Vevo Lift and Live At The Chapel, are on the schedule for 2014. Group Content Director, Sam Thompson, told The Music Network that discussions are being held with record companies for both shows.

A third Vevo Lift episode is due within the first half of the year. Last year it took two emerging acts, Sydney punk act Tonight Alive and Melbourne singer songwriter Gossling, and gave them mainstream exposure over eight weeks across multi-platforms: through exclusive interviews, behind-the scenes footage, video premieres, blogs and intimate live showcases. “I’m most proud of the original content on Vevo Lift,” Thompson said. “The artists gave so much of themselves, and with such passion, and left fans wanting to know more about them. Such shows are brand-funded, so it’s a question of getting the balance right as to what will grow the brand and what is right for the artist.”

According to Nielsen Online Ratings in December 2013, Vevo’s Australian figures are 2,037,567 monthly UA’s, over 700,000 downloads for mobile/tablets apps, and more than 65 million streams. A Vevo/Hot Hits documentary Justin Meets Kate that MCM Media produced – of Justin Bieber’s meet-up with an Australian fan who couldn’t make it to his concert because of a car accident – went on to get 2.14 million views globally.

Live At The Chapel will return “later in the year”, Thompson revealed. Shot in a 19th century church in Melbourne, it has hosted acts as Lady GaGa, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Jet, Xavier Rudd, Wolfmother, John Butler Trio, Grinspoon, John Mayer and The Temper Trap. The total 18+ audience across radio, digital and TV is 5.5 million, according to MCM Media.
