The Brisbane band have moved quickly to appease fans with a brief posting on their Facebook page: “Unfortunately we’re not breaking up.”

This came after a misleading headline led to speculation that they would call it quits after their dates on the Groovin The Moo festival.

Guitarist James Tidswell has indicated to WA’s South Western Times that the band would go on a hiatus, most likely for a year, after the tour winds up in Bunbury on May 23.

He is quoted in the paper as saying, “I know it’s going to be big, it will be the best one of the whole tour and it will be so emotional for us because it will be our last time playing indefinitely.

“There is nothing booked after that, no album, we haven’t demoed any songs, we aren’t touring so that’s it – I 100 per cent guarantee it will be at least a year before we do anything else.”

Tidswell’s later comments also indicated a change in mindset within the ranks.

“It’s been an amazing six years and it’s the end of this whole sort of ride really. We will always be a band and always play, but this is the end of going this hard.”

Violent Soho’s management has also stressed that the band are not going on an "indefinite hiatus".

The band’s album WACO, which they’re currently touring, debuted at number one on the ARIA chart. Last year they won Best Group and Best Rock Album at the ARIA awards.
