What song will Aussie songwriters name as the standout of 2017?

The annual APRA Song of the Year Award truly honours the ’songwriter’s songwriter’ with close to 90,000 Australian songwriter members called upon to cast a ballot for their favourite Aussie-penned tune of 2017.

Votes will be tallied and a shortlist of songs will be announced in January 2018 with a specialist committee of past Song of the Year nominees selecting a winner to be named at the 2018 APRA Music Awards.

The SOTY vote is an opportunity for APRA members to recognise the valuable work of their songwriting peers.

Last year’s winner ’Satan’ by D.D Dumbo is now part of a legacy of songs dating back to 1991 with Yothu Yindi’s landmark ’Treaty’.

Other winners include SIA, Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Vance Joy, Gotye, Kasey Chambers, Missy Higgins, and John Butler.

By casting their vote, APRA members are automatically entered into a drawing to win a valuable songwriter’s suite of prizes including Studios 301 Recording package with an engineer, headphones and pro audio package, a $1000 travel voucher and tickets to the 2018 APRA Music Awards.

Voting is now open via apraamcos.com.au and closes at 5pm AEDT on Friday, 15 December 2017.
