Voting has opened for the 2014 APRA Song of the Year award, the largest peer-voted songwriting award in the country.

The vote is open to all APRA members currently living in Australia (NZ members are only eligible to vote if they currently reside here), who can select from a pool of APRA-registered works. A shortlist will be announced in mid-April, at which point round two of voting will commence.

Kevin Parker’s stunning Feel Like We Only Go Backwards was the winner of last year’s award, with other previous winners including Gotye’s worldbeating Somebody That I Used To Know, Angus and Julia Stone’s Big Jet Plane, Scar by Missy Higgins, and Straight Lines by Silverchair, among others.
