PRESS RELEASE:
Sydney duo, Julian Sudek and William Campion - aka World Champion - shared their debut single "Avocado Galaxy" last month, described by Noisey as "zingy synth-pop at its finest" with Red Bull also chiming in calling it "a delicious slice of spacey indie-electronica". Following the release of an official video for the track, Future Classic now give it the real remix treatment, enlisting peers from across the global electronic community to show different sides of the 'Avocado Galaxy'.
The 'Avocado Galaxy Remix EP', available on October 23, features a remix from Lissvik (one half of Swedish outfit Studio), a rare mix from Melbourne house stalwart Tornado Wallace and a dub by LA based hip-hop producer Ras G.
Tune in today to Lissvik's surreal and gooey take on World Champion. Lissvik re-works the original that was co-produced with Jono Ma, into new melting territories of psych, while retaining Sudek's rhythms and Campion's unmistakably soothing vocals.
World Champion is the brainchild of Campion and Sudek. The pair met and quickly bonded over their love of psych pop and electronica. They also bonded over their dangerous love for Avocados. The project started as a little studio beast; a patchwork of ideas and jams that they had individually been sitting on for years. Together, with Julian on drums and William on vocals, they transformed those sketches into fully formed jams.
Julian was a founding member of Mercy Arms and has since played with Canyons, FLRL (Jono Ma, Kirin J Callinan) and most recently George Maple. Will Campion has mostly been a bedroom producer, as well as venturing out with local Sydney indie band, The Chevaliers.
With an upcoming show date on November 14 at Sydney's Carriageworks, and more news arriving shortly, kick back for now and get your remix on to World Champion.
